Welcome To Shannon McDonough
Welcome To Shannon McDonough
“shannon mcdonough is a real find--one of those rare people who actually looks happy on camera"
Capital Xtra, Ottawa
“Shannon McDonough is funny. She induces laughter that will make you choke on your turkey burger and have diet coke coming out your nose. And she doesn’t even try. As Out TV’s travel guru on Bump! she comes across as someone you’ve known your entire life. Intelligent, inquisitive and always up for an adventure. Dragon Boat racing? Sure, why not!? Lap dance from a lesbian burlesque dancer? Bring on the whole troupe!!”
Charlie David, Outlooks Magazine
Growing up in the Toronto area, Shannon was bitten by the show biz bug in kindergarten when she had to perform a rain dance wearing a medicine man mask for the grade 4 class next door. Unfortunately there were no eyes cut out of the mask and she did a face plant in the sandbox… but—She was hooked!
Shannon continued in the theatre and trained with The Second City. In 1995 her playwrighting career started off with “RING”, produced at Buddies in Bad Times Theatre as a part of The Rhubarb Festival. Since then, 5 more of Shannon’s plays have hit the stage...RING 2, Every Night’s Hot At The Va Va Voom, Talking To Mom In Colour, No News is Good News and Southern Belle. She is currently writing 2 television shows, a play and a movie!
In 1998, Shannon ventured in to the world of voiceovers and narration and has over 75 credits to her name. She’s also performed in television shows and commercials, but is probably most known for hosting the world’s most watched Gay and Lesbian Travel Series BUMP.
When not writing, performing or traveling around on BUMP, she works as a producer who devotes her time to seeing the funnier side of life.
